To the left of our L-shaped kitchen and just behind our dining room table, we created a canvas art gallery with some of our favorite photos from our travels. They include the moment we enjoyed baguettes in front of the Eiffel Tower, our last day at New York Fashion Week overlooking the concrete jungle, and a couple of our favorite places we’ve explored in San Francisco.
After looking through tons of options on Shutterfly, we landed on the idea of different sized canvas prints to create an abstract grid. We uploaded our photos to Shutterfly and instantly saw a preview of the finished product. Cropping the photos and making other customizations was very easy.
I fell in love with these Make Your Own Statement Glass Jars as soon as they appeared on my screen as we continued to browse Shutterfly for more unique personal items. I knew the jars would be perfect for the desert plants we started accumulating. We personalized three jars (each one with a different letter) so that when put together they spell BUN. “Bun” is our pet name for each other rather than babe or honey. It started over five years ago and just stuck. Everyone who’s close to us knows us as “The Buns” and we joke that we’re going to change our last name to make it official… Nichole Bun and Brian Bun, aka, “The Buns!” – haha!
I love the simplicity of the single capital letter. I find it clean and chic. They certainly make great cookie jars, but I didn’t want to be tempted 😉
Behind our living room, there’s a bay window where we like to take our morning coffee or evening cocktail. We personalized two sets of Keyline Monogram Glass Coasters with each of our first initials, B and N. They’re minimal, chic, and will hopefully keep the coffee stains away from my marble table.
Lastly, we wanted to add two square pillows to the chairs in our bay window nook. Instead of uploading personal photos, we selected images from the Shutterfly Art Library. I love that Shutterfly gives you the option to completely customize or select unique designs from their Art Library. There are so many great options it was hard to choose!
Our new custom pieces are extremely special to us because it reminds us of our travels and helps share our story with those who visit. We’re on our journey to making our house a home. 🙂
